The Honey Brake Experience
Honey Brake’s recreational program includes the 13,000 square foot “Honey Brake Lodge” with connected duplex cabins. Located near Jonesville one can experience hunting, fishing, boating, paddling, shooting sports and birding. Camps are available too.Honey Brake Gun Club has a 15 station sporting clays range, five stands and duck flush games. and Guides are available. The complex is adjacent to Larto Lake where there are opportunities for birding and wildlife viewing.
Giles Island
Located near Ferriday, Giles Island has a total acreage of 9,400 and is just 15 minutes from Natchez, Mississippi. Giles Island is the perfect hunter’s retreat offering a variety of hunting scenarios, from dense thickets to wide open fields. In addition to deer hunting, Giles Island offers turkey and white perch and bass fishing from our eight lakes. The accommodations and meals are excellent.

Public Lands for Hunting and Fishing
Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge
Located just minutes from Monroe, this 4,500-acre refuge has a 1,600 acre scenic lake that provides a boat landing.
Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge
The Refuge is located at 2312 Quebec Road, Tallulah, LA 71282. Many different fish species live in the Tensas River and the different lakes on the Refuge. Game species such as largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish are popular with.

D’Arbonne National Wildlife Refuge
Fishing and boating is available year-round at the D’Arbonne National Wildlife Refuge, located north of West Monroe, Louisiana. Read the Public Use Regulations Brochure for hunting dates and regulations.
Upper Ouachita National Wildlife Refuge
Upper Ouachita NWR has four months of either sex archery deer hunting. Gun deer hunting is limited to several either sex weekend hunts. Waterfowl hunting is open during the state season including Youth Days and Special Teal Season with hunting until noon. Mourning dove, quail, woodcock, squirrel, rabbit, raccoon and opossum may be hunted. A lottery youth turkey hunt is held in the Spring. Please consult the Public Use Regulations brochure for specific regulations and instructions for applying to the lottery hunt.
Largemouth bass, crappie, bream and catfish are popular fishes caught from the refuge’s many lakes, sloughs and creeks that are enriched annually by the backwater of the Ouachita River. Many anglers also fish the river. Three boat launches are available to access refuge waters.

Bayou Macon Wildlife Management Area
Bayou Macon Wildlife Management Area is located in East Carroll Parish approximately 3.5 miles east of Oak Grove and 7.5 miles northwest of Lake Providence. Hunting is available for deer, squirrel, rabbit, woodcock, dove, and waterfowl. A lottery hunt for wild turkey is held each year. Trapping is permitted for raccoon, opossum, beaver, and other native furbearers. Review hunting regulations on WMA’s.

Russell Sage Wildlife Management Area
Russell Sage Wildlife Management Area is located in Morehouse, Ouachita and Richland Parishes, approximately seven miles east of Monroe and ten miles west of Rayville. Access is provided via U. S. Highway 80, LA Highway 15 and Interstate Highway 20. The WMA is presently comprised of 34,845 acres following the consolidation of the former Ouachita Wildlife Management Area with Russell Sage WMA in March 2015. Hunting is available for deer, squirrel, rabbit, woodcock, dove, and waterfowl. A lottery hunt for wild turkey is held each year. Trapping is permitted for raccoon, opossum, beaver, and other native furbearers.

Big Colewa Bayou Wildlife Management Area
Big Colewa Bayou Wildlife Management Area consists of six separate units totaling 899 acres within West Carroll Parish. Archery hunting for deer is available along with rabbit hunting. The most popular sport on Big Colewa Bayou WMA is dove hunting in the sunflower fields planted by department employees on the Bearskin Unit of the WMA.

Big Lake Wildlife Management Area
Big Lake Wildlife Management Area consists of 19,231 acres located 12 miles east of Gilbert, La. The eastern boundary of Big Lake WMA is contiguous with a portion of the western boundary of Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge. The most popular game species are white-tailed deer, squirrels/rabbits, and turkey. Limited waterfowl and woodcock hunting opportunities are also available. Freshwater fish including largemouth bass, crappie, sunfish, and catfish are popular with area users.

Boeuf Wildlife Management Area
Boeuf Wildlife Management Area consists of 50,971 acres located 10 miles southeast of Columbia, La. The most popular game species are white-tailed deer, waterfowl, squirrels/rabbits, and turkey. Dove, woodcock, and snipe hunting opportunities are also available. Several dove fields, planted annually in brown-top millet are available to area users. Freshwater fish including largemouth bass, crappie, sunfish, and catfish are popular with area users.

Buckhorn Wildlife Management Area
Buckhorn Wildlife Management Area consists of 11,262 acres located 14 miles west of St. Joseph, La. The most popular game species is white-tailed deer, squirrels/rabbits, with some waterfowl hunting available. Woodcock, snipe, and raccoon hunting opportunities are also available. Freshwater fish including largemouth bass, crappie, sunfish, and catfish are popular with area users, but fishing opportunity is limited by lack of available aquatic habitat.

Dewey Wills Wildlife Management Area
Dewey Wills Wildlife Management Areas is located in the southern portion of LaSalle and Catahoula Parishes in Central Louisiana approximately 20 miles northeast of Alexandria. Game species hunted are deer, squirrels, rabbits, raccoon, turkey and waterfowl. Each year the area produces trophy sized bucks. Trapping for furbearers is allowed and the species available include raccoon, nutria, beaver, mink, bobcat, fox and coyotes.
The area affords excellent sport and commercial fishing. Species caught include black bass, white bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill, and other species of sunfish. Commercial species present include buffalo, carp, drum, gar, and catfish.

Sicily Island Hills Wildlife Management Area
Sicily Island Hills Wildlife Management Area consists of 7,524 acres located 6 miles west of Sicily Island, La. The most popular game species is white-tailed deer, squirrels, and turkey. There is a substantial population of turkeys on this area and a public lottery hunt is conducted annually. A youth hunt is held each year on the weekend prior to the regular turkey season. Woodcock, rabbit, and raccoon hunting opportunities are also available. There is a five acre gravel pit that was impounded and stocked years ago and offers some fishing opportunities. Freshwater species including bass, sunfish, and catfish are popular with the area users, but fishing opportunity is limited by lack of available aquatic habitat.
